Well its that time again where I write a load of stuff about what’s going on here at Vassaliki and hopefully you read it and enjoy it!
We are now coming to the end of the summer of 2015, with only six weeks left at the time of writing this newsletter. I cannot believe the season is almost over, we know when we are coming to the end when Samantha calls us all into the office to discuss our travel arrangement back to the UK! The seasons seem to go faster and faster each year and next year we will be on our 10th summer at Vassaliki were has the time gone?!
We have had an amazing summer at Vassaliki and with the resort almost full until we close on the 17th October we are looking forward to busy but fun packed finish. If you have some holiday time left we have a few rooms left after the 25th September until we close and we have a discount offer for this period.
Samantha and I have booked our first proper holiday since our honeymoon in 2004. We have decided to visit Club Orient in St Martaan after so many of our guests have talked about the place. We will be there 17th to 25th December so if you are there, look out for us!
Wherever you went for your holidays this summer we hope you had a great time and you spent plenty of time NAKED!!
Mark and Samantha Taylor.
Last Few Rooms Left For Our Ski Trip
Book NOW for this 5* winter break!!!
Naked Skiing!!?? Not something you would have thought possible or even something you really want to do? Me neither!!
But what about coming back from a hard day on the mountain, stripping off your boots and all the numerous layers, to lie naked in a steaming hot jacuzzi overlooking the mountains at an exclusive mountain lodge in the French Alps?
Well that is possible and something I think you would love to try, so this year Samantha and I are hosting a special ski holiday week from 27th February to the 5th March 2016.
This luxury lodge is set in a remote area of the Portes du Soleil ski region of France and can only be accessed by skimobile or 4×4 transfer (included in the price.) You can ski to and from the lodge and have access to the nearby ski village of Morzine.
The lodge boast some of the best spa facilities I have seen for a private lodge with an indoor swimming pool, outside hot tub, steam room and a spectacular sauna, all for your use naked.
The lodge staff will offer a fine dining experience plus there is a transport manager and lodge manager to make sure all our needs are met. There is even an option for massage in the lodges own massage room.
Dont panic we won’t make you ski naked just enjoy the amazing spa facilities and the lodge naked!!
Visit our website at www.viglanatura.com/ski for prices and more information.
Vassaliki Reunion Weekend
We are now taking bookings and deposits for this amazing event !!!
Please book NOW if you plan to come as we do need to confirm numbers to the hotel soon.
We have been invited back to the Queens Hotel and Spa in Bournemouth after our 2014 reunion was such a success. The hotel has just recently undergone a refurbishment and the hotel has offered us the use of the hotel swimming pool, hot tub and sauna for the weekend as naturist again.
We will run a new idea this time, replacing the Friday night fish and chip supper with a mediterranean themed BBQ. The hotel chef will be cooking a range of meats on the BBQ under a gazebo outside the function suite while you enjoy a selection of salads and dining inside. This will save us having to walk to a different venue on the Friday and will allow people who arrive late to join us for the evening at whatever time they arrive.
We of course cannot have the reunion weekend without our Gala dinner. This year the dress code is black tie and dinner dress. We have been asked to rebook ‘The Unusual Suspects’ who are more than happy to return. They mentioned to me after the last event that we are the craziest group they have played for! So well done team Vassaliki!!!
Jason Jay will be there to serenade you with his range of popular opera during your meal as well as a few more upbeat numbers to warm you all up for the band later.
We really hope you can join us for the weekend and once again we have managed to get an amazing deal of £245 per person for the whole weekend – dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights. Book now by emailing Samantha at viglanatura@gmail.com and meet up with your friends from Vassaliki!

Vassaliki Summer 2016
Well as one season comes to an end we start on the next.
Most of the flight companies have now launched their flight schedules for next summer already! Thomas Cook, Thomson, Norwegian Airlines, Small Planet and Monarch.
We are really pleased to hear that Jet2 is increasing its program to Kefalonia (EFL) by adding Edinburgh to their list of airports which includes Manchester, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands. The prices are good at the moment so may be worth a look to get an early bargain for all of you who live in the North.
For those of you who tend to use the London airports Easyjet from Gatwick and Ryanair from Stansted are due to launch there 2016 program at the beginning of October so keep your eyes open. All the other charter airlines we believe have launcedh the flights already.
The resort will be opening in 2016 on May 7th and will close on 15th October.
The resort next year is already taking bookings with many periods in June and July already proving to be very popular. We have some dates already fully booked so please do get in contact as soon as possible if you plan to travel in June, July and September as these date will sell out very fast and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
What is happened in Greece during the Crisis?
Well Greece was headline news every night on the TV, radio and in the newspapers this summer but what affect has the financial crisis or the “Grexit” as it became known, had on businesses in Greece and Vassaliki?
Well the truth is not much at all! We watched the UK news from our resort in Kefalonia but personally we saw very little of all the hype the media seemed to be making of the crisis. Yes, In July the banks on the island of Kefalonia were closed! Well not really closed just not open for us to take money out, but the doors were open for all the OAP’s to collect their pensions. But who on holiday, visits a bank??
As for the rest of us, if we need cash we have to use the ATM’s which whenever we passed in the car, had 5 to 10 people waiting in an orderly queue to take out the money they need. There were no riots, no fighting and the ATM’s just keeped on working. I did not hear of anyone unable to get money out except on a Sunday night when the machine has not been refilled that day, but that happens every weekend at my local ATM in the UK, so nothing really exciting there.
All the shops were open for business, plus the supermarkets and restaurants were open and fully stocked with food all summer. Our own restaurant on site has been busy every night and we have had no issues with getting our ingredients. All the restaurants and shops that took credit and debit cards before the crisis still do, so you didn’t even need to bring the extra euro cash that the press kept telling you to!!
So really, from what we saw was a big load of media rubbish over something that admittedly does need to be sorted out but within the political world. It has had no big effect on the island, the beaches were and still are stunning, the sea crystal clear and the sun just kept on shining!
Oh yes, there are some changes. The beaches were quieter and the roads have less cars on them making it easier to travel around. The other difference is that we are finding our bookings at Vassalki for summer 2016 are up on last year already and flights are cheaper!
So if you are planning a trip to Greece my advice is to book with a travel agent or a UK based tour operator. Your money is then in a UK bank and safe (well as safe as a bank can be not forgetting October 2008!) Make sure you have good holiday insurance, then come and enjoy a holiday in Greece, you will not be disappointed!
Food
We have had a few changes this year in the restaurant at Vassaliki. If you reaceived our last newsletter you will have read that we had a new chef by the name of Nick who joined our team this summer. He has been an amazing success and we have had some great reports back from very satisfied and full guests.
The chefs four course cuisine night has become a favourite event with both Nick and myself assisting (or getting in the way) cooking up a storm in the small kitchen and producing what I think is an amazing meal. With his immense experience, Nick has also been able to cater for different food allegies, making all our guests feel very welcome.
Have a look at the new food page on the website to seet what Nick has been up to: https://www.viglanatura.com/facilities/dining . What’s even better…he wants to come back next year!!! Thanks to all our guests for making him feel welcome!
