Well it’s that time again for us to update you about what is going on at Vigla Natura. Samantha and I have made the long drive back to Greece in our RV and have been joined again by Simon and Sheryle for another summer at Vassaliki Naturist Club.
Samantha and I stayed in the UK this Winter and I know you are asking why? Well… I don’t really have an answer for you! What an awful winter it was! I didn’t think it was possible for so much water to fall out of the sky over such a long period. I hope you all have not been too disrupted or had too much damage to your properties. We got our camper stuck and the road we lived on was closed down a few times, plus my mum and dad lost their beach hut in the strong windstorm on Valentines Day but other than that we did OK!
In this newsletter we look back on the great reunion weekend in January and update you on some news from Vassaliki in Greece…so read on.
Yes! That is us on the cover of the May issue of H&E!
I hope you enjoy the newsletter, we love any feedback or comments you have.
On the 17th to 19th of January this year we held the second Vassaliki Reunion Weekend at the Queens Hotel and Spa in Bournemouth.
We were joined by 60 guests for a weekend of relaxing in the naked spa and meeting up with friends made whilst on holiday at Vassaliki or Vasnat.
Guests started to arrive from midday on Friday and most seemed to check in then congregate at the hotel bar…! The afternoon was spent chatting and catching up before we all put on our coats and scarfs to make the short walk to the Bournemouth seafront for a good old fish and chip supper at Harry Ramsden’s.
Saturday was our spa day and the Queens Hotel had set aside the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room exclusively for guests to be nude. The spa was also very busy with many guests having massage and beauty treatments. The hotel were good enough to bring extra seating to the pool area for us to use and offered a drinks service to our naked guests in the chill-out area.
But what most of us were there for was the Vassaliki Gala night. Everyone put on their finest evening-wear and enjoyed a four course meal. During the meal Simon and Sheryle were frantically selling raffle tickets to help raise money for Animal Rescue Kefalonia (ARK).
They were so good at it and our guests were so generous that we ran out of raffle tickets! The raffle raised over £200 which we thought was amazing, so our sponsored dog Sparky is now sorted for the whole year. The star prize of a week’s free stay at Vassaliki was won by Graeme and Marianne Giles and the second prize of a free stay at The Queen’s Hotel was won by Eimad and Eman.
Once the meal and raffle were finished Jason (Mark’s Brother) took to the stage and got the room singing and clapping to his infectious range of opera, swing jazz and popular music. A small presentation was made to Samantha during Jason’s break for all her hard work organising the weekend which was greeted by a standing ovation from our guests and a few tears from Samantha!
The rest of the evening then went crazy…our band the Unusual Suspects (who were back by popular demand from our last reunion) made the evening unforgettable. The dance floor was full all night with everyone singing along to all their favourite tunes. Even I got into the swing of it all and did a duelling drums version of Wipeout with the band.
The final number for the night from the band was the famous Beatles song “Hey Jude”. This brought the whole room onto the floor to link arms in a circle and sing the iconic number, I think this has become the custom for wrapping up the Reunion Weekend!
The evening was soon over and everyone made their way to bed with sore throats, sore feet and a big smile.
Thank you to all of you who joined us for the weekend and for all the kind gifts and messages we received. We will look to run another event in 2016 so keep your eyes peeled for details.
Group Sailing Weeks
14th – 21st June
Once again we are running our group sailing weeks. Our first trip on June 14th to 21st has two cabins left. The resort for this period is now fully booked so this is a great option for those of you who have a holiday to book during this period. The flights with Ryanair are also very good at the moment. So if you want to enjoy the exhilaration of sailing one of these amazing yachts and relax in secluded bays, then why not give us a call or drop us an email!
Vassaliki Naturist Club, Kefalonia
Vassaliki will be opening up again for the summer at the start of May. The resort is starting to come together after a winter of heavy rain, the gardens have taken almost a week to bring back under control by a team of gardeners.
Samantha and I along with Simon and Sheryle have been busy painting and decorating the rooms. We are really pleased with the the new curtains, soft furnishings and paintings which have been put in to update all the rooms. We have also added some new creature comforts for you following feedback from last years guests. All rooms now have a hairdryer, sharp knives, oven gloves, oven dish, wooden spoon and a toaster. These were all requested and we hope they make your stay that little bit more comfortable.
The pool bar will have a new roof and sides for those cooler evenings to improve the dining experience. Plus we have installed a projector and screen in the bar for our new movie nights. We have also upgraded our WiFi to a faster bandwidth.
The resort is set to be busy this summer with June and July now almost fully booked. We do have space left in May, August, September and October but this is now starting to become limited so if you are planing a trip out to us, get your booking in soon to avoid disappointment.
We are so pleased to announce that our new website has just gone live. It is the first phase of our program to improve our website. The new design and navigation is set to make it easier for the user and the images we hope to inspire. If you are reading this newsletter you will see the new layout.
The next phase is to get the site translated in to Dutch, Greek and Italian in the next few months. We then hope to upgrade our booking system to a cloud based system which will allow guests to book online without having to wait for us to reply to them.
All this takes time but we hope the work and effort is worth it at the end of the day. Please take a look and any feedback or mistakes you find please let us know so we can fix them as soon as possible.
Annie ties the Knot!!
Samantha and I would like to congratulate Annie (our good friend and hostess for our sailing weeks) and her husband Alan on their wedding in February. It was a fantastic wedding on Valentines Day (despite the storms!) and a superb party after. We, and I am sure all our guests, wish you both all the happiness in the world.
