2021 New Year Newsletter

It’s 2021 and we are optimistic that, with the vaccine now being rolled out, we may get some sort of holiday season this year. Like us, I am sure you cannot wait to get some Mediterranean sunshine on your naked bodies!

As news is ever changing in the current climate, we thought we’d send you this newsletter to outline our plan as it stands at the moment, bearing in mind it could change at any given time.  We also touch on flights, the affect of Brexit plus a link to the interview we did a couple of weeks ago with Naked Wanderings.

In the meantime, please all stay safe, stay home where you can and hope you all get your vaccinations soon! Can’t wait to see you all in the Kefalonian sun! Mark and Samantha XX

Summer 2021

Samantha and I are working as hard as possible to make sure Vassaliki is open for as much of the summer season as we are allowed. At the moment we are waiting in England for permission from the Government to leave the UK and drive down through France, Switzerland and Italy so we can catch our boat to Greece. We know this will be a complicated and difficult task but we are determined to get there.

Our plan, at the moment, is to open our villa ready for the 3rd of April and then have the resort open 1st of May. Of course this is by no way set in stone but we need to have targets to head for. We will just have to wait to see how things play out. We promise to keep you posted.

Bookings for 2021 at the moment look very good as many guests moved their bookings from 2020. New bookings have understandably been slow but we are hoping for a last minute rush, if and when the restrictions are lifted.

Brexit  – is it an issue?

If you are British, what do you need to do if you are planning a trip to Kefalonia?

First thing you need to check, is that your passport is valid for more than 6 months on the date you are due to travel, before it expires. If not, it is advised to get it renewed now, as turnover for new passports at the moment are quite quick, but the passport office is expecting an influx of applications when restrictions are lifted.

Greece, like the rest of the Schengen area, does not require you to have a visa to visit for a holiday, as long as you don’t stay for more than 90 days.

Your EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) will still be valid, so if you are unfortunate enough to require medical assistance during your stay the cost will be covered by the NHS. If yours is due to expire, you can renew your card online when it has less than six months left on it. It is also recommended that private medical insurance would be worth considering.

So what will be different? The only thing that may affect your holiday is the changes to duty free allowances, so double check before you pack your case to head home.

So… let’s go!

Flights launched

UK

All the flight companies have now launched their schedules for 2021. Easyjet are starting flights late March with the main tourist season commencing in the first week of May when all the other airlines start their direct flights from all over the UK to the island.

Most airlines are offering flexibility to transfer your dates for free at present, giving you peace of mind when booking.

British Airways is missing from the chart below, but will start their scheduled flights (Saturdays) direct to Kefalonia from London Heathrow on 29th May with their last flight at the moment is 25th September.

Prices are still very good with some bargains to be had at certain times of the season. Have a look at this website it finds the best prices for you and with prices from £124 return at the start of July it’s worth a look! https://www.momondo.co.uk

Europe

We believe there are also flights with the following airlines direct to Kefalonia:

Germany – Condor – Saturdays from Munich     &   RyanAir – Tues / Sat from Frankfurt

Italy – EasyJet – Mon / Weds / Sat from Milan    &   RyanAir – Weds / Sat from Bologna    &    Volotea – Bari/Naple/Venice

Austria – RyanAir – Tues / Sat from Vienna

Netherlands – TUI – Mon / Fri from Amsterdam

There is not a lot of information out there at the moment, but we hope that as we get closer to the summer there will be more details.

Interview with Naked Wanderings

Some of you may already be following Nick & Lins of Naked Wanderings online, they are a young couple from Belgium who are traveling around the world visiting naturist resorts, beaches and events. They write about their experiences and post it all online via blogs on their website, facebook, instagram & twitter. They have become well known not only in the naturist community but have hit mainstream media over the last couple of years.

A few weeks ago Samantha and I were privileged to be their first guests on their new Naturist Resort Sessions, which is an online interview with Nick & Lins, which was broadcast live. They recorded the interview, so if you would like to see it, just click here.
